As regiões do país em que domina a pequena propriedade têm tido dificuldade em alavancar investimento público, um dos entraves à gestão da floresta no norte e centro do país. Para a floresta autóctone, o ciclo mais longo das espécies é um dos entraves ao investimento privado, o que torna os apoios públicos essenciais.
Foi neste contexto que surgiu o projeto ForestWatch, que pretende ter um papel ativo na monitorização das políticas públicas de gestão da floresta.
Liderado pela ZERO - Associação Sistema Terrestre Sustentável e contando com o Centro PINUS como parceiro, este projeto tem o apoio do Programa Cidadãos Ativ@s, financiado pela Islândia, Liechtenstein e Noruega, sendo gerido em Portugal pela Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, em consórcio com a Fundação Bissaya Barreto.
Para dar a conhecer o projeto ForestWatch e debater a importância da remuneração dos serviços do ecossistema para alavancar o investimento nos territórios florestais vulneráveis em minifúndio, a ZERO e o Centro PINUS encontram-se a promover, no próximo dia 14 de setembro, o Webinar "Investimento em floresta autóctone em minifúndio", que decorrerá via zoom entre as 14:30 – 16:30.
O programa conta com a apresentação do projeto pelos promotores e duas intervenções sobre serviços do ecossistema, realizadas por Rui Ferreira dos Santos da FCT NOVA e José Lima dos Santos do ISA.
Destinando-se a qualquer interessado, este Webinar foi concebido para agentes do setor florestal de ONGA's e para decisores políticos e organismos da administração pública central e local.
