Asiatic black bears – also known as moon bears – face an uncertain future, mostly due to deforestation and hunting.

OUR AMBITION | OUR WORK | GET INVOLVED Asiatic black bears – also known as moon bears – face an uncertain future, mostly due to deforestation and hunting across their Asian homelands. And though hunting and international trade in these bears is prohibited in many countries, these harmful activities still continue. But there are signs of hope. Conservationists in South Korea are now in the process of restoring the country's native bear population, and the initial outcome is good news for the species.  To find out more about how conservationists are managing this ambitious project, conservation biologist Joshua Powell travelled to Jirisan National Park, a mountainous region in the far south of the Korean Peninsula. News ABAE                                                    setembro  2021 Notícias ABAE     54 Municípios Recebem a Bandeira Verde em 2021   No dia 22 de setembro, teve lugar em Santo Tirso a Cerimónia de Entrega das Bandeiras Verdes ECOXXI, Programa que tem como objetivo reconhecer o trabalho desenvolvido pelos Municípios na área da sustentabilidade. Em 2021, dos 58 municípios que apresentaram candidatura 54 receberam a Bandeira Verde.        Eco-Escolas Galardoadas no ano letivo 2020/2021   As Eco-Escolas 2020/2021 já podem ser consultadas no site do Programa, à medida que decorrem as avaliações finais das candidaturas. Durante esta fase é analisado o trabalho que as escolas desenvolveram ao longo do último ano letivo.   Eco-Escolas 2021   Ações de Limpeza de Praia | Programa Bandeira Azul   No âmbito do Dia Internacional de Limpeza Costeira, que teve lugar a 18 de setembro, e se celebra até dia 26 de setembro, o Programa Bandeira Azul dinamiza ações de limpeza de praia. GAIA 20:30 | Global Biodiversity Campaign No dia 14 de setembro a Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) lançou a "Global Biodiversity Campaign". Através desta campanha internacional pretende-se disseminar os principios da FEE e encorajar as comunidades a desenpenhar um papel ativo na proteção da Natureza.
