To safeguard the future of this iconic species, we need to keep the momentum going by coming together to protect them and their homes.

Despite work to protect them, tigers today still face many threats, ranging from habitat destruction and fragmentation to the illegal wildlife trade. In one of Southeast Asia's most important remaining tiger landscapes, Belum-Temengor in Malaysia, the tiger population declined by 50% in less than a decade –  largely due to snaring.

Help protect tigers

But some things are looking up, thanks to our collective efforts. With support from you, the efforts of governments and communities, wild tiger numbers globally are slowly increasing for the first time in a century. This is possible thanks to investing in protected areas, creating best-practice global conservation standards for managing tiger habitats, and reducing poaching and challenging the trade in tiger body parts. Supporting the crucial role played by communities in protecting tigers is also key.

To safeguard the future of this iconic species, we need to keep the momentum going by coming together to protect them and their homes. We need more resources to safeguard wildlife in protected areas; stronger laws and enforcement to challenge the illegal wildlife trade; improved resources to stop poaching; and increased education and awareness raising to tackle consumer demand for tiger parts. Help us to make it happen!
