WWF International - "Filming the elusive snow leopard" 2021


By showing the world how beautiful they are, one wildlife film-maker aspires to change the negative perceptions about snow leopards and help save the iconic species from extinction.

Towering, snow-covered, barren mountains with green valleys swarming foothills are what makes Gilgit, Pakistan a magical place. This landscape is home to some of the country's rare wildlife including one of the two remaining big cats of Pakistan – the snow leopard.

In fact, the country was once home to the world's third largest snow leopard population, but close to 70 animals out of a population of between 200 and 400 were killed in a decade. Now, native wildlife film-maker Imtiaz Ahmed is on a quest to find these elusive big cats and inspire action to protect them.

By showing the world how beautiful they are, he aspires to change the perception about these shy animals and help save the iconic species from extinction:
